Differing Perspectives

It’s not unusual for there to be some time between interviewing for a position and learning the result. This can be immensely frustrating! "Why haven’t they contacted me?" "I thought I'd get a second interview, but no one has called." "Am I out of contention?"

You should, however, keep the employer's perspective on the recruitment process in mind. Hiring people is a very small part of what most organisations do and, therefore, everyday life can get in the way. Management deadlines, product development, staff holidays and financial developments may all prevent an organisation from finalising your application as quickly as you would like.

As a result, you should assume that you remain in contention for the position until you hear otherwise.
