Module 3 - Interviews
Unit 1: Preparing for an Interview
Introduction
Initial interviews typically take 15-40 minutes. Their purpose is to allow both parties to learn more about each other and to sell themselves in the best possible light.
The information exchanged in an interview is often more than factual. How you dress, speak and generally conduct yourself in the interview is important to most employers; on the other hand, the employer's attitude, the setting and the quality of the information received will be important factors for many applicants.
There are many elements that contribute to a successful interview. While some of these cannot be prepared for - for example, sometimes there is just a chemistry between the interviewer and interviewee that brings out the best in both parties - there are, nevertheless, preparations you can make in relation to your resume, personal appearance, goals and interview strategy that will improve the quality of your interview.
