Getting There

Nothing creates a worse impression than an applicant who arrives late for an interview.

In some cases, an interviewer will have a full day of interviews scheduled. As a result, it can be very difficult to accommodate late arrivals or reschedule interviews. In the worst case, you may miss out on your interview, or have the time severely reduced. You should therefore plan your journey to the interview, allowing for potential delays and traffic congestion. You should arrive about ten minutes before your interview.

It can be worth doing a trial journey at the scheduled time of the interview. That way you can (1) assess the travel time, (2) find an appropriate place to park, and (3) locate where the interview will take place.

You should aim to arrive at the interview location with sufficient time to relax, get comfortable with the environment, and do a last-minute run-through of what you want to say. Many people find that doing simple deep-breathing exercises helps them to relax, which in turn enhances their interview performance.
