Resume Checklist

Before submitting your resume for checking or sending your resume to an employer, make sure you have:

Content

Tailored your resume to the job advertisement and included skills asked for in the advertisement.

Included examples of experiences from employment, study, volunteer work, student exchanges and/or extracurricular activities.

Listed your education and employment experience from most recent to least recent.

Ensured your career objective address the selection criteria stated in the job advertisement.

Mentioned all the languages you speak, read or write.

Included at least two referees with full contact details.

Contact Details

Made your name stand out – large and bold font.

Included your email and phone numbers but not your marital status or age.

Layout

Improved the overall look of your resume by having a good mix of bold fonts for headings and bullet points. Is your resume easy to scan read i.e. enough white space.

Kept your resume to no longer than 2-3 pages.

Used short statements and bullet points.

Language

Given your resume a "positive tone". Does is include positive action words?

Checked the spelling and grammar.
