Keeping track of your efforts
It is almost impossible to keep track of all the details related to each contact that you make during networking, so it is important to develop an efficient record-keeping system.
This may be as simple as a Word or Excel document that you search to locate key pieces of information. Initially, you should record the contact’s name, address, telephone number and the type of information that you hope to obtain from them.
As your networking progresses, you might expand your record-keeping to include detailed contact information, the date and content of each contact, information on additional network contacts, as well as follow-up strategies (such as a thank-you note).
