Module 1 - Resume Express
Unit 3: Job Advertisements and Selection Criteria
Advertisements vary in the amount of information they give about a position. How do you extract the key requirements of a role when job advertisements can vary so much?
Hopefully there is enough information in the advertisement so that you can write your resume straight away. But more often than not, there isn’t.
This unit will show you how you find out more about the job to allow you to write a resume that is tailored to exactly what the employer is looking for. It will also give you some tips about how to talk to employers on the phone.
At the end of this unit you will be able to analyse a range of job ads, detail how your skills and experience meet the specified criteria and target your resume to the specified job. This unit covers:
- Analysing Job Ads
- Contacting the employer
- Prioritising job advertisements
- Addressing selection criteria
- Writing skill statements
- Sample job advertisements with resumes
