Contracted employees perform tasks rathr than work for the enterprise. This can lead to a fundamental breakdown of employee loyalty and a pervasive alienation and cynicism. Junior managers and new employees have far less exposure to management development than experienced managersand often believe that senior managers often chooe the wrong people for management development programs.
Rather than assuming that younger employees are different it is more likely that careers are being managed differntly, across organisations rather than hierarchically. Leaders need to be more aware of the external environment and their impact on others.
