A law degree has been labelled as the new arts degree as its flexible and in the long term is more useful as a result of its relevance in the commercial sector.
Graduates with a law degree are highly regarded for the skills that are taught during it including good written and oral communication, research, analysis and problem solving to mention a few.

However, it's been found that only 25% of graduates remain in legal practice six years after graduation. This can be attributed to a number of causes one of which is that after being in practice graduates often become disenchanted with the often limited areas of practice.

Lawyers are taking on other careers in the commercial and private sector including self employment. Working in academia is yet another option for many law graduates, it provides flexible working hours and projects that are focused on. International travel is another part of working in academia as leave can be taken in order to continue research and listen to other academics talk about their research in conferences.
