The new Welfare to Work changes as of July 1 will lead the way for changes in the amount of support that employers offer to new staff. Under these new changes recipients of Centrelink parenting payments who are the principal carer of a child will be required to undertake part time work when their oldest child reaches six.

These new job seekers are looked upon favourably by employers as they are often aged between 30 and 39 and therefore have previous work experience.

In order to create the most productive working environment employers are being encouraged to learn as much as possible about the employee's family situation to make appropriate arrangements.
