Conflict management will become more important for managers when the new IR laws come into place. The type of employees in our workforce will change with self interest becoming their new focus, a problem for companies that depend on co-operation.
If people in the new workplace are given more than the absolute baseline in wages, it is thought by some that they will reciprocate by giving more than they strictly need to. The new IR laws have in fact shifted this baseline downward for all involved, making it easier for managers to seem as though they are providing better conditions than other employers.
It is also thought by some that those without children will benefit from these changes as surely employers will favour employees that are willing to buy back 2 of their 4 weeks' leave entitlements as opposed to those who wish to spend it with their families.
