The British and French Prime Ministers have two very different views on how its best to achieve a work-life balance. Mr Blair argues that by implementing better work-life balance policies this will lead directly to an increased productivity to any company. Mr Chirac on the other hand states that tougher competition improves productivity.

A survey was conducted with data taken from 700 British and United States companies. On average the results from both the Blair and Chirac ways of operating seem to be neutral.

Overall the data showed that companies with better management practices tended to have a greater productivity and more employees reported to have a better work-life balance.

It was concluded that improving employee satisfaction is socially desirable and this can be achieved by improving a work-life balance.
