The ANZ has been operating in Asia for over 30 years. It is now ready to expand its business in the area the bank needs to find leaders with cultural and language skills.

The managing director of ANZ David Horney Asia explains that staff with Asian experience form better relationships with government than Australian managers do. They also have an important intuition of the business risks.

By developing and recognising current employees of the ANZ in the hope of producing new leaders the bank plans to increase its success within the Asian region. Mr Hornery also explains that as a part of the managing director mentoring programme he ensures that he meets with emerging leaders during his travels to be kept up to date with growth and improvements on a more personal level.
